For some years now at the Hotel Margherita in Praiano we have been committed to supporting the green and sustainable philosophy by offering eco-friendly services </ strong> to all guests staying in our hotel on the Amalfi Coast.
Our aim is to enhance and involve our guests in this eco-sustainability process, reducing the environmental impact of the entire hotel and increasing people’s comfort and well-being.
Our focus is on preserving the environment and we try to do it in the little things of every day, because, if a hotel is a home, we wondered if it was possible to facilitate a virtuous circle, in defense of our land.
Nature and the sea are part of us!
We are aware of how much the nature of our territory is the first asset that allows us to host thousands of travelers from all over the world every year. For this reason, we feel the first responsibility in its protection, and we think that our guests also feel part of this environmental cause.
Here is what we are doing to make our hotel eco-friendly:
ECO-FRIENDLY DETERGENTS
We use detergents that respect the environment and pollute less, both for washing linen (Cleprin) and for cleaning the rooms (Kiel Eco), which represent a recurring action in the hotel.
100% GREEN ENERGY
We have chosen to use a 100% Green Energy supply thanks to the contract with Enel. It is the same clean energy that charges our electric car, the zero emission one with which you can discover the surroundings of our hotel in Praiano and which we use to take you to the beach.
ELECTRIC CARS
Since 2018 we have installed a free electricity charging station for our guests’ cars and we use an electric shuttle for their travels. A small gesture to invite on the Amalfi Coast those who drive vehicles with reduced emissions that keep our air cleaner and your stay healthier.
REDUCING THE USE OF PLASTIC
Eliminating all the plastic from the minibar in the rooms by replacing it with aluminum containers, we have promoted the free use of tritan bottles to be filled with water for free in the dispensers located at the hotel. In this way we were able to save the equivalent of 12,000 plastic bottles per year in the minibar, the equivalent of a 240 kilometers long road!). Then we paid attention to the bar area as well, and we chose to use only compostable straws and glasses, which, following degradation – natural or industrial – are transformed into compost, into organic material.
RECYCLING TO CREATE RENEWABLE ENERGY
Lemon peels, orange peels, coffee pods, are collected every day in special containers and given to a specialized company that obtains renewable energy. We can recover almost a ton of waste product which we reuse to produce almost 100 Kw of electricity, which is the energy needed to give light to twenty coastal homes every day. < / p>
REDUCING PAPER USE
We have decided to reduce the use of paper material to the indispensable by digitizing all the information that you now find organized and always updated (so we do not have to reprint dozens of letters and brochures monthly) in the Tablet SuitePad that you will find in your room. </ Strong >
GREEN OPTION

At Hotel Margherita we care a lot about the cleanliness of your room and as you have read, we always use eco-sustainable products. However, out of respect for the environment, we want to give you the opportunity to give up tomorrow’s cleaning if you believe it is not essential. By doing this you will actively contribute to reducing water waste and the use of detergents.
ECO-SUSTAINABILITY AT THE TABLE
The Ristorante M’Ama of the Hotel Margherita ini Praiano adheres to the project Slow Food Chefs’ Alliance . To cook the dishes of our menu we prefer the use the native Campania products, supplying ourselves with many small local producers of excellence, to guarantee a fresh, genuine food and wine experience that carries within it the principles of authentic, always sustainable quality.

What are ancient grains?
Italy boasts over 500 denominations of old varieties of “traditional grains“, old local varieties that have developed over time in a specific region (or area), creating an indissoluble bond with the populations that live the territory.
These grains of very ancient origin have been preserved and thanks to this preservation work, today they are still grown in small plots, by local farmers who have not lost their memory in favor of intensive cultivation.
